I heard one of the simplest yet profound statements the other day and wanted to share it.
"Every day you wake up, you have two things: a chance and a choice."
Now, isn't that a simple, profound truth? Let's unpack it real quick from a biblical perspective.
So, Lamentations 3:22-23 came to mind first, which happens to be one of the first scriptures I learned. It says:
"because of the Lord's great love, we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."
To give a little context, the author of this verse was talking about repentance and hope, and "consumed" in this context refers to defeat.
Another version adds "mercy" after love, and another says the "Lord's grace." If all three adjectives were added, the verse would say:
We are not defeated because of the Lord's great love, mercy, and grace.
So, whether mercy or grace, it is the Lord's love for us that keeps us from being defeated by life, and get this, His grace and love are new every day.
Therefore, when you open your eyes and wake up, you have another chance at life!
Think about it: someone your age, race, height, and even in the same city didn't wake up, they didn't get another chance, but you did.
Not only is it a blessing to be alive, but it's an opportunity to get to know the Lord. Every day you wake up, you have a chance to be who God created you to be. You have a chance to find purpose, experience love, get healthy, forgive yourself, and, most importantly, start over.
Don't like something in your life? Change it! Not only do you have a chance every day, but you have a choice. You can choose to do everything that will get you closer to your goals, dreams, and aspirations and even build a solid relationship with God. Or you can choose to be lazy, make excuses, be complacent, fearful, play small or just go through life's motions.
Don't take God's grace and mercy for granted. Live your life! Do something big; he created you for GREATNESS, anyway.
So remember, every day you wake up, you have two things: a choice and a chance.
